The U15 Selects are pleased to announce this year's tryout dates and times:

 

Phase 1:

  • Tuesday, September 3:  7:45 & 9:00 PM (Skills/Tactics)
  • Wednesday, September 4:  7:45 & 9:00 PM (Tactics/SAG)
  • Thursday, September 5:  7:45 PM (SAG/Intrasquad)
  • Emails will be sent approximately a week prior with Phase 1 session times
  • Player Releases following Thursday session

Phase 2:

  • Saturday, September 7:  9:30 & 10:45 AM (Position-Specific), 6:15 PM (SAG/Intra-Squad Game)
  • Sunday, September 8:  10:45 AM (SAG/Intra-Squad Game)
  • Final Roster selected following Sunday session

SELECTS ADVANCE TO HOCKEY MANITOBA U16 JUNE DEVELOPMENT CAMP

The Selects are proud to announce that seven (7) members of its 2023-24 roster have been selected to the Hockey Manitoba U16 June Development Camp.  The camp will take place June 7 - 9 at the Hockey for all Centre in Winnipeg, MB.  The players selected include the following:

The Female Program of Excellence is designed to provide high performance players with the opportunity to develop advanced skills as well as an introduction to the concepts needed to play at an elite level.  Players from the Program of Excellence go on to play at the USport, NCAA and International level.

 

The Female U16 Program of Excellence has been redesigned as a development focused program for female Under-16 athletes in Manitoba.  The goal of the program is to teach the up-and-coming female athletes the skills, concepts, and tactics specific to the Female U18 Program of Excellence, giving these athletes exposure to the expectations and what it takes to compete at the U18 level and beyond.

 

The Selects wish all seven players the best of luck and are proud of their recognition and achievements of being named to the June Development Camp.

SELECTS CAPTURE 4 OF 6 1ST TEAM ALL-STAR SELECTIONS
03.15.2024

The Manitoba Female Hockey League announced its 1st and 2nd Team All-Star line-ups and the Selects found themselves well represented.  Netminder Isabelle Labossiere ('27), Defenceman Blake Haas ('27) and Forwards Mya Grenier ('27) and Emilie Carriere ('28) were all named as 1st Team All-Stars.

 

All four were key members of the Selects team success and could be found at the top of many of the league statistical scoring or netminding categories.  Labossiere posted a nearly flawless 14-1 record while bagging 6 shutouts and only conceding 13 total goals against.  She led the league in wins, shutouts, save percentage, and GAA.

 

Haas finished first overall among D skaters with 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 total points in 30 games played.  Carriere won the league scoring race and led the league in goals (24), assists (21), and points (45).  Team Captain Grenier finished in a tie for 3rd in league scoring with 33 points comprised of 17 goals (T-5th) and 16 assists (5th).

 

Congratulations to these four for their very deserving recognition!

HAAS CAPTURES MFHL TOP DEFENCE AWARD

The Eastman Selects are excited to announce that second year defender and assistant captain ('27) Blake Haas has been named the MFHL Top Defender.

 

Haas (Lorette West, MB) played in all 30 games for the Selects and led the league in D scoring.  Haas notched 9 goals while chipping in with 13 assists for a total of 22 points (0.73 PPG).  Haas was a key member of the Selects this season and saw big minutes in all situations.  She improved her ability to defend however her greatest strength is her mobility and puck moving abilities which enable her to be a threat offensively.  She finished second overall on the team in SOG.

MFHL NAMES CARRIERE TOP FORWARD

The Eastman Selects are excited to announce that first year forward ('28) Emilie Carriere has been named the MFHL Top Forward.

 

Carriere (St. Pierre-Jolys, MB) played in all 30 games for the Selects scoring 24 goals while adding 21 assists.  Her 45 points and 1.50 PPG/AVG led the league.  Carriere is a gifted goal scorer and has a knack for scoring big goals.  Over the course of the season she scored 3 PPG and seven (7) were game-winners.

LABOSSIERE NAMED LEAGUE MVP AND TOP GOALIE

The Eastman Selects are proud to announce that second year netminder ('27) Isabelle Labossiere has been named the MFHL Most Valuable Player and Top Goalie.  This is the first time in the league's brief history that the MVP has been awarded to a goaltender.

 

Labossiere (Ste Agathe, MB) has been a key member for the Selects this season and a driving force in helping the team lead the league in goals against.  In 16 appearances, Labossiere posted a sparkling 14-1 record while posting 6 shutouts and only giving up a total of 13 goals against.  Impressively, she stopped 264 of the 277 shots fired on her resulting in a 0.953 Save % and a 0.82 GAA.  She led the league in wins, shutouts, save percentage, and GAA.  Along with her battery-mate, Delaney Dreger, the two helped the Selects lead the league in total goals against.

 

Congrats to Isabelle on winning this year's MFHL Most Valuable Player and Top Goalie award!

WEEK 18 PLAYER OF THE WEEK GOES TO WRAY
02.28.2024

The Eastman Selects are excited to announce that first year Forward Summer Wray ('28) has been selected as the Week 18 Player of the Week.  Wray collected a goal and an assist in a 8-1 victory over the visiting Interlake Lightning in Eastman's final game of the regular season.  In the game she fired 6 shots on goal and posted a +2 rating.  Wray finished the Regular Season with 14 goals and 10 assists for a total of 24 points while suiting up for all 30 games.  Wray's consistentcy was evident all season as she notched a point in 16 of her team's 30 games and only twice went two consecutive games being held off the scoresheet.  Wray finishes the regular season in a tie for 12th in overall points and tied for 10th in goals.

 

Wray (Oakbank, MB) is a first year player that skated for the U13 AA Female Selects program for two seasons before joining the U15 program.  Her responsible 2-way play, combined with her sneaky offensive skills, enable her to be employed in all situations.  In 46 total games played to date, Wray has racked up 19 goals (3rd) and 18 helpers (7th) for a total of 37 points (T-4th).  In addition, she has directed 92 shots on net while notching 6 PPG and posting a +13 rating.  Congrats to Summer for being recognized as this week's Player of the Week!

DREGER WINS MFHL WEEK 17 GOALIE OF THE WEEK

The Selects are excited to announce that 1st Year netminder Delaney Dreger (Lorette, MB) has been selected as this week's Goalie of the Week.

 

Dreger ('27) tended the crease and made 18 saves in a 3-1 win over a feisty Yellowhead Chiefs squad on Saturday afternoon.  The win improves Dreger's record in MFHL play to 11-3 in 14 starts to go along with a 1.12 GAA and a .920 Save %.  She has also posted four (4) shutouts over the course of the season.  Overall, she owns a 17-3-1-1 record in 23 appearances.

LABOSSIERE CAPTURES WEEK 15 MFHL GOALIE OF THE WEEK HONOURS

The Selects are proud to announce that 2nd Year netminder Isabelle Labossiere ('27) has been selected for the MFHL Week 15 Goalie of the Week.  Amazingly, this is Labossiere's 3rd time being selected as the Goalie of the Week!

 

Labossiere (Ste Agathe, MB) made 18 saves in a 4-1 win over the 2nd-place Brandon Wheat Kings.  The win clinched the top seed in league play and a first round bye for Labossiere' Selects squad in the upcoming playoffs.  Among MFHL league leaders, Labossiere currently sits first in Wins (15), GAA (0.67), and Save % (0.963) and is T-1st in SO (6) while 4th in minutes played (894).  On the season overall, Labossiere boasts a 20-2 record in 24 appearances while posting a 1.17 GAA and a 0.936 Save %.

SELECTS TABBED FOR WEEK 11 MFHL PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK
01.03.2024

The Selects are excited to announce that 1st Year Defenceman Joelle Normandeau ('27) and 2nd Year puckstopper Isabelle Labossiere ('27) have been selected as this week's respective Player and Goalie of the Week.

 

Normandeau (La Broquerie, MB) posted 2 points and potted her first goal of the season in the Selects 5-0 win over the Interlake Lightning.  Normandeau ('27) is skating in her first season with the Selects and has made a seamless transition from Forward to Defence for the team.  She has quickly turned into a consistent and steady defender who uses her strong positioning and good stick to thwart chances from the opposition.  Normandeau's confidence continues to grow, and along with that so has her offensive instincts, as she currently ranks second on the team in D scoring, contributing 16 points (1G, 15A) to go along with 43 SOG and a +38 rating on the season.

 

Labossiere (Ste Agathe, MB) made 15 saves in a 4-1 win over the Central Plains Capitals to earn her 11th win of the season in league play.  The win puts her in a tie for first in the league in wins.  In MFHL play, Labossiere has posted a league-leading 6 shutouts and only given up 6 GA in 12 appearances.  In addition, her 0.50 GAA and 0.971 Save % rank first among qualified starters.  On the season overall, Labossiere boasts a 15-2 record in 19 appearances while posting a 1.00 GAA and a 0.945 Save %.

LAMBERT CHOSEN FOR WEEK 10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOURS

The Eastman Selects are proud to announce that first year Forward Sasha Lambert ('28) has been selected as the Week 10 Player of the Week.  Lambert had an extremely productive weekend posting 2 goals and 3 assists for a total of 5 points, while also directing 5 shots on goal and posting a +4 rating.  Both of her goals were big as they turned out to be game-winners in back-to-back wins over the #3 Brandon Wheat Kings and the #4 Yellowhead Chiefs.  The surge in points sees Lambert climb into the Top-5 in league scoring with 7 goals and 8 assists for a total of 15 points in 16 games played.

 

Lambert (Lorette West, MB) is currently on a hot stretch where she's posted points in 7 of her last 8 games while notching multi-point efforts in 4 of those games.  For the season she has potted 10 goals and 12 assists for a total of 22 points in 29 games played, while also firing 65 shots on net and is T-3rd on the team with a +35 rating.  Lambert's tenacious play and willingness to go to the dirty areas on the ice make her an asset to her team and tough for her opponents to play against.  Congrats to Sasha for being selected as this week's Player of the Week!

CARRIERE EARNS WEEK 6 PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOURS
11.23.2023

The Eastman Selects are proud to announce that first year Forward Emilie Carriere ('28) has been selected as the Week 6 Player of the Week.  Carriere potted four (4) goals in the Selects two wins this past weekend including netting the GWG in both games.  In Saturday's game against the Interlake Lightning, Carriere scored the game's first 3 goals as the Selects went on to win 5-0.  Her strong play continued on Sunday as she came up clutch scoring the game's go-ahead marker with a minute to go in the game, helping her team knock off the second place Pembina Valley Hawks.

 

Carriere (St. Pierre, MB) is off to a hot start this season and currently finds herself atop league scoring with 19 points (11G, 8A) in 12 GP.  Her 11 goals are also tied for first in the league.  Overall, Carriere has posted 22 points in 19 GP to go along with a team-leading 3 GWG and 94 shots on goal.  Congrats to Emilie for being selected as this week's Player of the Week!

PAIR 'SELECT'ED FOR MFHL PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK
11.15.2023

The Selects are excited to announce that 2nd Year Forward Mya Grenier (Powerview, MB) and 1st Year netminder Delaney Dreger (Lorette, MB) have been selected as this week's respective Player and Goalie of the Week.

 

Grenier had a big weekend for the Selects as she notched five (5) points in the Selects 4-point weekend.  Grenier tallied 3 goals and a helper in her team's win over the Westman Wildcats.  She added an assist in the Selects 3-2 SO win over the Yellowhead Chiefs the following afternoon.  In total, Grenier had a hand in five of the nine goals scored by her team over the 2-game weekend.

 

Grenier ('27) is in her second season with the Selects, and as a result of her leadership and commitment to her team, was named team Captain this season. Her 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists) sees her currently tied for team scoring.  She has added 64 shots on goal and has a +15 rating.

 

Dreger ('27) had a nice performance in her team's 3-2 shootout win on Sunday over a tenacious Yellowhead Chiefs squad.  In the game she turned aside 28 shots and then stymied 3 of the 4 shooters in the shootout.  For the season, Dreger owns a 6-2-1 record to go along with a 2.18 GAA and a .878 Save %.

 

After spending last year with the Lorette Comets, Dreger has stepped in and helped give the Selects another terrific tandem in the crease this season.  Congrats to both Mya and Delaney on earning this week's MFHL Player and Goalie of the Week Awards!

LABOSSIERE SELECTED AS WEEK 1 MFHL GOALIE OF THE WEEK
10.17.2023

The Selects are excited to announce that goaltender Isabelle Labossiere has been named the MFHL Goalie of the Week for her play in her team's season opening 1-0 SO win.  Labossiere got the start against the defending league champions, Brandon Wheat Kings, and stopped all 18 shots directed her way in regulation and OT.  However, her counterpart in the other net didn't give up a goal either which sent the game to a shootout. In the shootout, Labossiere outdueled her opponent stopping five out of six shots and was a key contributor to her team's win in their season opener.

 

Labossiere is off to a hot start this season and in 5 appearances is 4-0 with a 0.961 Save % to go along with 2 shutouts. Labossiere hails from Ste Agathe, MB and returns for her second season looking to build off the success she had in her first year.  Congrats Isabelle on earning this week's GOTW award!

SELECTS ANNOUNCE 2023-24 FINAL ROSTER

After a grueling week-long training camp which included skills, flow, small-area games, a position-specific session, and an intra-squad game, the Selects have finalized their roster and are excited to announce their 2023-24 line-up.  This year’s squad features six (6) returning players and 11 new players to the roster.  The roster sees balance in age with eight (8) 2009s and nine (9) 2010s.  Here’s the full roster:

FOUR 'SELECT'ED FOR U16 POE JUNE DEVELOPMENT CAMP

Hockey Manitoba released its roster for the 2023 Female Under-16 Program June Development Camp and we are excited to announce that four (4) Selects have been chosen to advance to the summer phase.

 

Forward Cheyenne Scott Cooke (Niverville, MB) and defenceman Chloe Carriere (St-Pierre, MB), along with both netminders Charli McKenzie (Ste Adolphe, MB) and Isabelle Labossiere (Ste Agathe, MB), were named to the camp roster which includes a total of sixty-eight (68) athletes invited, comprised of thirty-eight (38) forwards, twenty-two (22) defencemen, and eight (8) goaltenders.

 

The June Development Camp will be the second phase of the Hockey Manitoba Female U16 Program which is a program for emerging high performance female U16 athletes with a focus on preparing these athletes to enter into high performance U18 hockey.

 

The Female U16 June Development Camp will see athletes participating in skill sessions designed to provide instructions on skills and concepts directly related to the Female Team Manitoba Principles of Play.  Athletes will also participate in intra-squad exhibition games on the Sunday of camp.  All programming throughout the duration of the camp will be led by the Female U16 Coaching staff.

 

The third phase of the Female U16 Program will be the July Development Camp which will be held from July 7 – 9, 2023 at hockey for all centre.  The same 68 athletes that were selected for the June Development Camp will participate in skill sessions and inter-squad competition.  Skills sessions will be lead by the Female U16 coaching staff and will be focused on skills and concepts needed at the U18 level.

 

The fourth and final phase of the Female U16 Program will be the August Competition Weekend which will be held from August 25 – 27, 2023 at the hockey for all centre.  The same 68 athletes that were selected for the June and July Development Camps will be placed onto four separate teams with each team being led by a member of the Female U16 coaching staff.  Teams will play in a round robin, Semi-Final and Gold or Bronze game over the course of the weekend.

PAIR OF SELECTS CAPTURE WEEKLY AWARDS

The Selects are proud to announce that Blake Haas and Charli McKenzie have been named this week's respective Player and Goalie of the Week.

 

Haas is a first year defenceman for the Selects who is putting up solid offensive numbers. She posted back-to-back 2-goal performances to wrap up the regular season and help the Selects secure the #4 seed heading into the playoffs. Haas is a smooth-skating defender that has the ability to escape pressure and create ice for herself with her puckhandling and poise. She's currently tied for 2nd on the team in goals and among D-scoring overall. Haas resides in Lorette West and attends Churchill High School.

 

McKenzie is a first year netminder for the Selects who has made a seamless transition from ringette to hockey in a short amount of time. This past week she posted the win in a 5-1 victory over the Pembina Valley Hawks to improve her overall record in league play to 8-2-1.  She has also posted 2 shutouts and a 0.923 Save % to go along with a league-leading 1.57 GAA.  McKenzie's athleticism and competitiveness mean she's never out of the play and her ability to recover quickly for second save opportunities give the Selects an opportunity to win every game she's tending the crease.  McKenzie hails from St Adolphe and attends Niverville High School.  Congrats to Blake and Charli on this week's Player and Goalie of the Week Awards!

LABOSSIERE EARNS

SECOND GOALIE OF THE WEEK HONOURS FOR LABOSSIERE
01.10.2023

The Selects are excited to announce that goaltender Isabelle Labossiere has been named the MFHL Goalie of the Week for the second time this season.  Labossiere got the start on Friday evening against the Yellowhead Chiefs and back-stopped the Selects to a big 1-0 victory while stopping all 19 shots faced. The Chiefs made a frantic late push with the extra attacker but Labossiere stood tall and was able to turn aside everything directed her way.  The win sees her record improve to 7-5 in league play to go along with 3 shutouts and a 2.75 GAA.  As a first-year goalie with the U15s, Labossiere continues to impress and be a key contributor as part of the team's outstanding goaltending tandem. Labossiere's play has helped the Selects go 8-2 in their last 10 games and the win helped to temporarily create a little breathing room between the team and 5th place in the very tight MFHL standings. Congrats Isabelle on earning this week's GOTW award!

LABOSSIERE EARNS GOALIE OF THE WEEK HONOURS

The Selects are excited to share that netminder Isabelle Labossiere has been named the MFHL Goalie of the Week for Week #7.  Labossiere was tasked with back-to-back starts on a tough northern road trip to Thompson where she back-stopped the selects to 2-0 and 7-1 wins over the Norman Wild, while stopping 38 shots in the process.  The stellar weekend saw her record improve to 3-4 in MFHL action and lower her GAA to 3.29.  Labossiere is a first-year goalie with the U15s and hails from Ste. Agathe, MB.  Congrats Isabelle on the deserving nomination!

The Selects will kick off their exhibition season by participating in the Brandon Wheat Kings Pre-Season Showcase this upcoming weekend with four games against MFHL teams.  They'll following that up with some pre-season games against the Winnipeg East Saints (Sep 23rd) and the Pembina Valley Hawks (Sep 24th).  The regular season kicks off on October 15th with a home affair against the Pembina Valley Hawks.

4 SELECTS ADVANCE TO HOCKEY MANITOBA U16 TOP-40 DEVELOPMENT CAMP 1

The Selects are proud to announce that four (4) players from their 2021-22 roster have been selected to the Hockey Manitoba U16 Top-40 Development Camp.  This camp will take place from July 22 - 24, 2022 at the Bell-MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg, MB.

 

The Top-40 camps are the second stage of the Female Program of Excellence process.  Following the Top-40 Camp, approximately 24 - 26 players will be invited to a second Development Camp in August, 2022.  The Female U16 Program of Excellence has been redesigned as a development focused program.  The goal of the program is to teach the up-and-coming female athletes in the province the skills, concepts, and tactics specific to the Female U18 Program of Excellence, giving these athletes exposure to the expectations and what it takes to compete at the U18 level and beyond.

 

G Kennedy, Orienna (Ste Anne, MB):  Kennedy is a 2007-born goalie that posted a 2.79 GAA and .900 save % while accumulating an 8-5-2-2 record.  She has excellent technical skills while adding a level of athleticism to her game.

 

F Heppner, Danyel (Niverville, MB):  Heppner is a 2007-born forward that notched 7 goals and 16 assists in 30 games and was third in team scoring.  She sees the ice well and has the ability to create space for herself and others on the ice.

 

F O'Neill, Georgia (Stonewall, MB):  O'Neill is a 2008-born forward that scored 14 goals and 10 assists in 30 games.  She led the team in goals and finished tied for first in points.  O'Neill features a power forward type game and is hard to knock off pucks.

 

F Scott Cooke, Cheyenne (Niverville, MB):  Scott Cooke is a 2008-born forward that scored 10 goals and 5 assists in 28 games.  Scott Cooke also plays a power-forward style and is strong in puck battles.

 

The Selects wish all four players the best of luck and are proud of their recognition and achievements of being named to the Top-40 Camp.

TRYOUT DATES ANNOUNCED

The U15 Selects have tentatively set their tryout camp dates and are excited to announce this year's schedule (subject to change):

 

Phase 1:

  • Monday, September 5:  5:00 & 6:15 PM
  • Tuesday, September 6:  8:00 PM (Intra-Squad Game)
  • Thursday, September 8:  5:15 PM & 6:30 PM
  • Player Releases following Thursday session

Phase 2:

  • Saturday, September 10:  1:30 & 2:45 PM, 5:15 PM (Intra-Squad Game)
  • Sunday, September 11:  12:30 PM (Exhibition vs Central Plains Capitals)
  • Final Roster selected following exhibition game

All sessions will be held at the Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre.

** Please be informed that the team is confirmed and will be attending the Calgary Firestarter tournament on the weekend of September 30 - October 2.  Transportation and hotel accommodations for the players and staff will be booked prior to the season start.
